Come Get Your Books Signed! I Want to Meet You!

Friday, October 16th, 2009

Shaking handsI hate shameless self-promotion, but this is one opportunity I get to do such.  I hope you bear with me.  For those of you at BlogWorld Expo, I’d like to meet you in person if you’ll join me for a book signing from 3-4pm Pacific near the BlogWorld Expo Bookstore today (October 16, 2009).  The Bookstore has copies of both my books and I would be happy to sign any books you purchase while you are here.

Even if you don’t want to purchase a book, please stop by and say hi!  I want to meet each and every one of you.  Let’s talk about the Building Blocks of the new Web and about Facebook Connect and Twitter and Google’s OpenSocial and FriendConnect, and maybe we can learn a little from each other.  At a very minimum I’ll get to meet you face-to-face and hopefully we can build a real-life relationship out of that meeting.

For those that stop by, I may even do a random book giveaway of my FBML Essentials book while I’m there.  Please, please come stop by and say hi while you’re out here.  This is my chance to meet you!

Make the Most of Facebook With Fox 13′s New Series

Monday, May 4th, 2009

facebook-pic.pngA few weeks back I was interviewed by our Local Fox station, Fox 13 KSTU about Facebook.  I was interviewed by Arikka Von, Katy Carlyle, Nicole Hunter, and Nineveh Dinha about topics such as why you should join Facebook, Facebook Privacy, Security, and even Strategy on Facebook.  The series ran all last week (now all my neighbors are wanting me to give them a class on Facebook), and I think serve as a great resource for anyone wanting to learn the basics of what Facebook can do for them.

For those wondering when I’m on Facebook–Now What??? will get a new edition, rest assured Jason (my co-author) and I are definitely talking about that, and hopefully sooner than later we will be able to begin working on that.  We also have something else in the works (again if I can just get time to get my part done) that I think will hold you through in the meantime.  Until we get any of that together, these videos by Fox 13 Utah serve as a great resource.  Thanks a lot to the entire Fox 13 team for giving me the opportunity to share!  I especially like the one showing you how to set your Facebook Privacy settings. Nineveh’s strategy segment was also very useful I thought (If you’re going to be running against Senator Bob Bennett this election, call me – I’d love to help you out!):

I’m On Facebook–Now What??? Now Available for the Kindle – Get Your Copy Today!

Monday, March 23rd, 2009

I'm On Facebook--Now What??? For the KindleRecently when Amazon made their Kindle software available for the iPhone I told Jason and our Publisher Mitchell at HappyAbout that it was time we get our copy in the already strong database of books the Amazon Kindle Store provides. Now, not only would you not have to buy a Kindle to read our book digitally, but you could now take it anywhere with you, in your pocket, along with dozens of other of your favorite books thanks to the portability of the iPhone. This was very appealing to me, as now with just the push of a button you could download our book, read it anywhere you go, bookmark it, select your favorite pages, and more in a nice, easy-to-read digital format.

So I was proud to learn today that you can now go to the Kindle Store, search for “I’m on Facebook”, and with one click, have our book in your pocket or on your Kindle wherever you go. Better yet, it’s the cheapest of all versions, at only $9.56! We save on publishing costs, you get half off the original book price. How’s that for win-win?

If you have an iPhone, you can download the Kindle app by clicking on this link. You can also buy the Kindle 2 on Amazon (affiliate link) and get the full experience. To get the book, just go here, click the “Buy now with 1-click” link, and it will automatically be downloaded to your Kindle the next time you turn it on or open the app on the iPhone. Or, if you were always wanting to see what it was about, try it out for free! There’s a “Send sample now” link on that same page which will send you just a sample so you can see a preview of what you’re purchasing before you buy it.

Oh, and be sure to share this with your Facebook friends!

Me at Web 2.0 Expo

Monday, April 21st, 2008

Picture 8.pngI’ll be at Web 2.0 Expo starting tomorrow, April 22 through Friday, April 25. This, in my opinion, is one of the conferences to be at this year, as I really feel we’re getting to a tipping point towards the evolution of Social Networks. Expect to hear a lot about Enterprise 2.0, Future of Mobile, and of course, the future of Social Networks. I’ll do my best to live-blog what I can on the Stay N’ Alive blog, OpensocialNow.com, and FacebookAdvice.com. I’ll be bringing along my wife’s Flip digital video camera so maybe I’ll even get some good video while I’m out there.

I’ll be bringing several signed copies (by both me and Jason) of “I’m on Facebook–Now What???” with me, which, if you’re a blogger and can convince me why I should give you a free copy (I love giveaways to your audience if you have a good audience) come see me. Or, if you already have a copy of the book I’m happy to sign copies while I’m there. I’ll be posting my whereabouts on Twitter so you should be able to find me. Also, look for me at the O’Reilly booth on Wednesday around 3pm. I’ll be also promoting my upcoming book, FBML Essentials and would love to meet you!

If you want to follow where I am, again, there’s Twitter, or feel free to check out my schedule here. Also, add me on Crowdvine!
