Stephen, geography is important because when people look for a Facebook developer, and they live in Utah, they look for Utah Facebook developers first. Do they have to? Probably not, but in the end it's at least a little cheaper for them to pay a local than someone remote that they can't see or interact with in person. If you're a Facebook developer and don't live in Utah, please feel free to note it - I'm just proud of living in Utah right now and would love to see more local developers embrace Facebook. I will always refer them first, if they have the qualifications, then any other Facebook developers I know of.

BTW, I'm also a "Utah Perl Programmer". :-) There's just a lot of us (relatively speaking) so I'm not as concerned about that community.

I've been really curious about the significance of "Utah" in "Utah Facebook Developer" when I've seen you post about this.
I've never really identified myself as a "Utah Perl Programmer" or a "Utah Sysadmin" as most of the people I work with are online and most of the work that I do is online.

Why is the geographic location of other developers significant to you?
